Weekly Blessings: Week 28: 2014 in Hindsight

If you’re reading this post, congratulations: you made it to see first “Weekly Blessing” of the new year! I’m so glad you decided to stop by!

If this is your first time here, let me explain what this post is all about. “Weekly Blessings” is a series on my blog where I post on Sundays something that God has put on my heart to share.

Still interested? Great! Keep reading!

After everything that I went through in 2014, hours before the new year, I was making my demands before God. I told Him, “God, 2014 has been a terrible and trying year for me; I know You have rest for me in 2015. It’s got to be better than this!” That’s when I ran into Ephesians 5:8….

2014, personally speaking, was HORRIBLE for me. So many things happened and I lost people that I had known and trusted for years. It was one catastrophe after the other, and I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that my survival was due to nothing else but God Himself. I still can say that professionally I had a good year and I was able to rededicate myself to God, which has been the best decision I have ever made. However, by allowing Him to guide me, I realized that there were some things and people that I needed to get away from in order to reach my full potential in Him; and He was going to get me away from those things and people, whether I liked it or not. I didn’t really understand why so many seemingly negative things were happening at first, but then I realized:
15″ Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” ~ Ephesians 5:15-17

Right at the end of 2014, I realized that, although it was hard…..and I mean really hard…..everything I went through was for the best; God knew what He was doing.  It was just a part of the process! In order to walk into the things that God had for me and to do what He created me to do, I had to be pressed and stretched; they were growing pains! I’m gonna be honest with you, I got scared and tried to avoid the trials and rebel, but I had to keep in mind that God was doing all of this to give me a new start and prepare me for a new and better life in Him, including a fabulous 2015!
What’s my point? If your 2014 wasn’t exactly the greatest, I’m encouraging you to not give up! You wanna know why you cried so many nights? You wanna know why so many friends gave up on you? You wanna know why so many people starting going against you for no reason? Because Satan saw what God had for you and didn’t want you to have it! I wrote a post right before the new year, explaining what God told me about 2015; if you haven’t read it already, I encourage you to click here and do so.
God doesn’t want us to walk 2015 like we did 2014 – weak, beat down, and sad. 2014 was our growing year. We made it through, and now is time to reap the rewards! Walk with your head held high, knowing that you survived and are now destined to walk into something that nobody can take from you: your purpose!
We are children of God; we need to stop acting so defeated and step into 2015 already victorious!
Hope you enjoyed this week’ “Blessing!” If you’d like to share something (Bible verse, a song, or a message…anything!) that God has put on your heart or have a question or comment you would like to share, you’re more than welcome! 1. I love how the right thing you needed to read falls right into your lap! Excellent article. Thank you for posting! I am a child of the MOST HIGH GOD!!!

  2. Your story reminds me so much of 1 Peter 1:7

"These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith–of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed."

    Have a blessed New Year!
