Weekly Blessings:Week 62:A Parent’s Loss

Happy Easter!
I’m sorry I was away last week, but I wanted to discuss a different perspective on the reason for Easter today.

One of the things that people tend to forget when it comes to the Easter holiday is that Mary was not the only person to lose a child that day.
Who else lost a child?
Of course the parents of the thieves lost sons, but who else?
God lost His son that day too.
Granted, God knew what was going to happen went He sent Jesus down to earth, but that still doesn’t make it hurt any less. It’s like a mother whose son is in the army – she says her goodbyes and sends him off, knowing he has a job to do. Yet when the news comes that her son has been killed, it still hurts.
That’s some deep stuff.
Just imagine how God felt seeing his perfect son drowning in the sins of the world. Think about how sad and overwhelming that must have been for God.
His son, his ONLY son. Killed for things he didn’t even do.
His only son executed for the crimes of everyone but his own.
How devastating that must be!
So God understands how a parent feels when they lose a child. I know He had a special place for Mary’s tears.
So when we think of this day, not only think of Jesus’ sacrifice and Mary’s loss. Consider God and what He gave up too.
