Weekly Blessings: Week 40: Christian Relationships

Hey guys! It’s the 40th week of “Weekly Blessings!”

Today’s message came to me early yesterday morning and I didn’t have time to get out my laptop and write it down, so here’s what I wrote in my phone:

Those of you who actively follow the series may know that this subject was also discussed a few weeks ago by Je Tuan in her wonderful and insightful guest post, but God put it on my heart to discuss it once more.

As said in my note above and in Je Tuan’s post, Christianity is a religion where relationships are extremely important. Just think of some of the most well-known Bible stories – Adam and Eve, Cain and Able, Ruth, Esther, ect…none of these stories would be the same without a relationship existing there. Not to mention the fact that God is a god of relationship – why you do think He created us(John 1:10-13)?!

Relationships with other Christians offers us encouragement and power. Relationships allow us to pray for and with one another, offer encouragement and comfort, and inspire each other to move forward boldly and with Christ.

These relationships are extremely important, and we know this because this is the first thing that satan tries to attack. You see how he did Adam and Eve? His interference in that one relationship caused all mankind to be separated from God by sin. You see how he did Judas? Him implementing greed into his heart caused him to aid in the crucifixion of Jesus, who he was following and who he knew was the Savior of the world! Satan gets the importance of relationships because he used to know what a real relationship was like with God. Satan likes to send demons out in groups because they work better together than they ever could apart – it’s all strategy! That’s why we need to get our relationships right, because that counteracts the work of the enemy when we do.

Now I must warn you, not all relationships are good and God-inspired. Need some examples? Jezebel and Naboth, Sampson and Delilah, – come on now! You gotta watch who you associate yourself with, because that very relationship can be the reason you miss Christ. So always pray to God about your relationships. Ask Him to show you their hearts and intentions, and make sure that they respect your faith in belief in God.

Proverbs 27:17 ~ “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 ~ “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!”

John 15:12-15 ~ “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

If you’d like to share something (Bible verse, a song, or a message…anything!) that God has put on your heart or have a question or comment you would like to share, you’re more than welcome! 1. Thanks for writing this. I think that some relationships can definitely be toxic to us and our families, while others can strengthen us and bring us joy and peace. I appreciated reading your thoughts!
