Love One Another
There’s a lot going on in the world today, and the majority, so it seems, is completely and utterly negative.
From politics to racism, to gun violence, to just purebred hatred, it can sometimes be hard to NOT have your guard up in such a tense time.
There used to be a time when people would just talk and say hateful things. Now, not only are people shouting their hate, but they’re also going to extreme means to act it out.
Scary times we live in.
However, if we try, we do have the ability to change things.
1 John 3:18-19(NLT) says, “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth so we will be confident when we stand before God.”
It’s evident that we can fight and argue, no doubt about that. But, let’s start showing that, despite our differences, we can love and accept one another. We can say we need to love each other and we have to do better all day long, but we HAVE to start taking action! Like Migos said, we need to “walk it like we talk it.”
LOVED the video for “Walk It Like I Talk It”! It was great how they gave respect to Soul Train!
Anywho, back to what I was saying…..
If you go back and read 1 John 3, you’ll see that we are given the blueprint on how to lead with love and how to be in proper fellowship with God: LOVE. That’s the key!
1 John 3:14 says, “If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.” This specific passage was discussing how we must love one another but as believers, we should NOT use this passage as an excuse to be hateful to those who do not or do not yet believe. Your lack of love cause be the reason both they and you miss Heaven(1 John 3:15), but that’s another topic for another day…
The passage also goes on to explain that Jesus was the best example of pure, genuine love when he laid down his life for us(1 John 3:16). God didn’t ask us to do that; God asks us to live for Him and represent Him and we can’t even do that! Are we really His children then?
The sad part about the world today is that we know love is the key and we all know we could do better at showing love and grace to each other, but we refuse to make the first move. All it takes it one step. And, with God behind us, that step isn’t as difficult to take.
And, as long as we keep operating in such a toxic, chaotic, and ungodly manner, we will continue to have chaos, toxicity, and ungodliness surrounding us. Once we start to act like we are children of God and have His spirit, will things start to turn around for our individual situations and the world(1 John 3:7-10, 24).
I hope this week’s blessing helped you!
