Beautiful, Loved, & Blessed

Happy Sunday!

One of the things I’ve always struggled with is my self esteem. I look around at other girls my age and think:

She’s so pretty – I wish I was that pretty.
She’s so smart.
Everyone likes her.
She’s so talented.

I think this happens to everyone in life. Heck, I still struggle with it. But there comes a time when you have to fight those thoughts with positivity.

When those thoughts start to come into my head, I have to just remind myself of Psalm 139:14. Most people know the verse in the King James Version, which reads:

I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well.

However, I love studying the Bible under the New Living Translation and love the way it interprets this scripture:

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous–how well I know it.

This verse is simple, but it reminds me that God made me this specific way for a specific purpose. No, I may not look like this person or be as talented as someone else, but I am perfect for the assignment that God has on my life, and that’s all that matters! If I was to look a certain way or have certain abilities, I may not be able to complete my mission.

So I say all of that to say this: Don’t compare yourself to others, that only makes life harder. Embrace who you are and who God created you as. The Bible says that we are created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), so we are all beautiful and unique in our own way. Create your own path and help others learn to love themselves!

You are beauttiful.
You are smart.
You are loved.
You are talented.
You are a child of God.
Have a good week!
