Weekly Blessings: Week 65: Transparency (Part 2)

Good morning!!

Last week we talked about transparency, and I thought I was done…apparently I was wrong! God has been telling me something else and wants me to share!

When we talk about transparency, we typically think about being open and honest with one another, which isn’t necessarily wrong; however, one thing that some of us fail to think about is that we also have to be transparent with ourselves.

What does that mean? If I’m talking to someone else about it, I am being real with myself.

Not all the time. Let me explain:

Think about the 12-step program that addicts go through. What is the first step? Admiting that there is a problem and we need help.

Isn’t this similar to what we go through when we want to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior?

Now skip over to step four: Take Inventory. Think about your life – where did you mess up, what did you mess up, why did you mess up? Ask God to show you the condition of your heart and He will reveal yourself to you. Trust me, I know.

So what’s my point in this? Some people try to skip telecoms and four.

Have you ever seen or heard someone come out and share their testimony of how God delivered them from something, only to find them in the same mess? Or maybe you’ve seem those Christians who know they aren’t doing right, but are always quick to say, “God knows my heart!”

They obviously have not been honest with themselves. Your friends at church told you it was wrong, your parents told you it was wrong, and the Bible told you it was wrong, but your flesh….your flesh still thinks it’s okay.

Why? Because you were honest with everyone but yourself!

You can go to someone and tell them that God saved you from going to jail until you’re blue in the face, but if you go home and continue to do it or continue to punish yourself for it, you haven’t been honest with yourself.

Go look in the mirror and tell yourself you are:

I’m a liar.
I’m a contractor.
I’m a thief.

But also tell yourself this:

I need God to help me.
God still loves me.
