Future….Really?

Because of situations I and a few of my friends have gone through in the past, I have a special place in my heart for women who have been done wrong by guys.

Ciara, you are now officially in my heart.
I’m sure you’ve already heard about Ciara and Russell Wilson’s decision to remain celibate until marriage – kudos to them for setting a standard and trying to do it the right way, but that’s a post for another day. What really caught my attention was the way that Ciara’s ex-fiance and father of her son Future responded to their pledge:
I don’t know about you guys, but the comments Future made in this interview really tarnished how I see him as a person and made me feel sorry for Ciara, since she has a baby with this man.
First off, the question that was asked really isn’t something that should be asked, especially since they have a baby together – it’s kind of self explanatory that they didn’t wait. But when he said that God didn’t tell him that…

Dude, don’t be telling everybody all your business!
I’m not sure if he was just speaking matter-of-factly, but when he said that Ciara asked him to pray with her after, I took it as a slight jab. To me, if you really loved/cared about Ciara, yes it would throw you off, but you would sincerely…….SINCERELY try to pray with her and see that she felt guilty for what happened, instead of making it out like she was crazy.
Ephesians 5:25 – “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” Future just threw that verse right out the window in my opinion! It doesn’t matter if you two aren’t together anymore, you were going to marry this girl at one point, and she’s always gonna be the mother of your child (along with about 4 or 5 other women, but I digress). No matter what, Ciara, who has actually been pretty quiet about the situation, deserves honor and respect from you, especially since she hasn’t gone out and talked about you like a dog. Ugh!
For this interview, this is all I have let to say to Future
Elite Daily
Congratulations to Ciara for finding someone who truly values her worth and actually wants to be the man that God intended him and all men to be for women.
For all the other ladies out there who have had to deal with a similar situation, be encouraged in the fact that not all men are like this. There are plenty of guys out there who are more than willing to wait for you and honor you, all the way up until you guys walk down the aisle. Maybe you made a mistake and gave yourself to the wrong one – that’s okay! Embrace God and He’ll wash all of that away and prepare you for the man He created specifically for you. Just stay strong!
My rant is done.

  1. 1. You're right, it's rare to find someone in the spot light setting a great example for young girls to imitate. So kudos to Ciara (who I already adored prior to the celibacy commitment) 2. There are phenomenal guys out there who model their after Christ's love for the church! Great post, thank you for sharing 🙂

  2. It really was, but I'm glad they're taking the high road and not giving Future's ignorant comments so much attention.
