Weekly Blessings: Week 43 with Annette Petrick
Welcome to another round of “Weekly Blessings!” So happy you could stop by!
I’m excited about this week because we have another guest post! This week’s post comes from Annette Petrick of Consider This, a radio show and blog.
Annette is a prolific writer and nationally recognized speaker on leadership, relationships and the search for balance in life. She has appeared before thousands of organization members in workshops, as key note speaker, in seminars and retreats.
Her public speaking career and love of writing ultimately combined with the wit and wisdom of maturity in a unique format – a sound bite radio show that is now offered in a 90-second podcast episodes. The shows have been broadcast daily on AM radio for more than eight years.
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:7-11 NKJV)
I know that the selection specifically says that we that could speak on a verse, but I felt that I had to speak on this collection written by Paul. During our worship at church, the pastor brought up how Beijg renewed by God changes the way you view and count things. It could be said that Paul and I had the same type of mental background, in terms of obtaining things and valuable belongings, but not so much after coming to Christ. At that point, everything that I THOUGHT I couldn't live without started disappearing. It got to a point when all I had to my name were a few outfits and a Bible, and those were all I needed. When I look back, the more materialistic weight I dropped, the more spiritually lighter I felt. I was more unhappy with a room full of things I didn't need and, now, the most happy with barely enough belongings to fill even a corner of a bedroom. If there's one thing I know I've learned, it's this one line I kept seeing in photos: If God is all you have, then you have all that you need. I would keep going, but this isn't my blog to be ranting on. Blessings on top of blessings to you all. I love you.
Being renewed**** the one time my auto-correct decided to fail.
