Weekly Blessings: Week 36 with Je Tuan Lavyonne

Welcome back to “Weekly Blessings!”

Are you new here? Let me explain what this is all about! “Weekly Blessings” is a series on my blog where I post on Sundays something that God has put on my heart to share. In this Sunday’s case, someone else is sharing something!

Let me stop blabbering! Here is today’s “Weekly Blessing!”

You Are Not an Island

None of us is as smart as all of us” ~Ken Blanchard
Hi!
I’m Je Tuan and there is something that’s really been close to my heart lately. Those that know me, know of my struggles with clinical depression and anxiety. There are times in my life when I just can’t pull myself out of the rut that I’m in.

My saving grace has been the people that God has placed in my life. Isolation and loneliness has become far too prevalent in our society. Being independent has been put on a pedestal, and it’s having horrible effects. People are lonelier than ever, even with social media. When I log into Facebook I see people bragging about how they don’t need anyone.

My heart grieves for those that take pride in their loneliness because my intuition tells me that it’s a façade. There is a difference between needing time to yourself, and not having a support system.

We’re not meant to navigate this world alone. Our souls thrive when we make genuine and positive connections with one another. We need friends.

Even Jesus had friends:

Luke 8:51-52 And when he came to the house, he allowed no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said, “Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.”

Mark 9:2-3 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them.

Jesus had 12 disciples but three of them were closer to him than the others. They were the people that he took with him even when he didn’t allow others to walk to with him.

Life is full of trials, tribulations, and joys. Today I pray that God strengthens the friendships that you already have in your life. If you don’t have any God given friends, I pray that he places you in the path of people that love him, that will give wise council, and that will treat you like the beautiful soul that you are.

If you don’t know where to start, find a church, a local group in your area, or even an online community. I strongly suggest building a network of people that are going to push you towards your destiny. You are special, and you have something unique to offer the world, don’t waste your gift. The world is waiting for you to tap into your power. We are stronger together!
