Weekly Blessings: Week 29 with Linda Wells-Harr
Welcome back to “Weekly Blessings!”
I’m excited to announce that, for the next couple weeks, The Pen & the Needle will be having guest posters! It’s always nice to have a fresh word from a different perspective. It just goes to show that God can speak to and through anyone, as long as we let Him!
This week’s blessing comes from Linda Wells-Harr of Ask Our Generous God.
Linda Wells-Harr has a passion for education and has served in many venues including: children’s ministry, teaching in public school, teaching in Christian school, principal of a Christian school, and administrator of Christian school. Her heart is in serving Jesus through educating children and empowering young mothers with tools to instill Godly principles into the lives of their children. She is an avid pinner and can be followed on Pinterest. She resides in the Appalachians and is working on developing a Christian Curriculum for young children. – See more at: http://missionalcall.com/motherhood-mission/#sthash.eJrPG3dG.dpuf
“If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning… Face it, friend. He is crazy about you! ”
~Max Lucado
The new year is here and many of us make resolutions, set new goals, and often set ourselves up for failure. Many resolutions begin with I vow to lose x amount of pounds this year. We are trying to conform to what society tells us is an acceptable size. They tell us to pin photos of supermodels on our refrigerators, so we will be inspired not to eat when we see a Photoshopped sized 2 model. They do not offer that many of these women are very unhealthy and are anorexic or have had surgeries to look this way. This year rather than making a resolution to lose x amount of pounds I am going to offer my body to God, try to conform to his word and be transformed by it. Although, I am overweight by societies standards and maybe even healthy standards I know if God had a refrigerator my picture would be on it. Human and perfection is not compatible without Jesus. I will strive to present my body holy and acceptable to Jesus, but not conform to the standards of Hollywood. I have absolutely no desire to be a size 2, but I do have a desire to be healthy and live holy.
I encourage you to never compare yourself with someone else, only compare yourself to the old untransformed version of you. Cheer yourself on when you have made progress! If you are working on losing weight do it for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 – Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 – Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
Romans 12:2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Keep Pursuing God Sized Dreams!

Thank you for sharing, that Max Lucado quote made me smile 🙂
I truly enjoyed this post! It makes sense that the only one we have to please is God and ourselves. Thanks for the great encouragement
