Ask Away Friday with Christy from Uplifting Families

Hey guys and welcome to another addition of #AskAwayFriday!

What am I talking about? I’m glad you asked! Well, it’s a link-up where bloggers partner up, ask each other ten questions, and then each blogger answers those questions in a post. It’s a great way for everyone to get to know each other and make new friends!

This week I teamed up with Christy from Uplifting Families. Her blog is filled with tips, tricks, and useful information on parenting and taking care of a growing family. Check her out!

Now, let’s get to the questions!

1. I love the inspiration on your blog. We have been talking about worship
the last few weeks in our Youth group (I sit with them on Wed nights).
What does the term worship mean to you?
~Awesome question!  To me worship means intimacy and reflection. When you’re in real worship, you’re able to connect with God on a much deeper level than you ever thought you could. Worship just allows you to enjoy God in all His goodness and let Him express His never-ending love to the maximum.

2. What is your favorite worship song?
~I actually have two worship songs, I guess; one is fast and the other is slow. The first one is “Jesus Medley” by Donnie McClurkin. I have always loved that song and it gets me going in the morning. The second one is “Withholding Nothing” by William McDowell. That one is awesome; it really gets you into a deep worship and helps me to really reflect on the goodness of God.

3. What is your favorite bible verse?

~I love so many, but one I love is Luke 1:45, which to me basically talks about how fortunate a person is when they have faith in what God told them. It reminds me of God’s purpose for me and how, no matter what, I should remember that God’s work never comes back void. It may get hard sometimes, but I know that God has an expected end for me; a happy, successful, and blessed end.
~My biggest frustration is when people downplay my career as if it’s extremely simple or unimportant. People think writing is easy but, in my opinion, it is one of the hardest creative professions to be in. We are starving artists too!

5. What is the story behind the name of your blog?
~ Well I got the name from a song by Lupe Fiasco of the same name, which I liked. For me, the pen for my being a writer, and the needle stands for my blog, which is basically about whatever comes to mind. If you look up the word “needle” in the dictionary or even do a Google search, it stands for so many different things, and that’s what my blog does as well!

6. I thought I was busy as a mom, how in the world do you manage all that
you do? School, band, working a job, and managing two blogs, I am tired
just looking at all the responsibilities that you carry on your shoulders.

~Haha, I’m going to be honest with you: I have no idea how I juggle everything! I can only say I pray A WHOLE LOT ha. But I guess it helps that I enjoy the things I do too.

7. If you won $500 shopping spree, you can only spend it on yourself, what
would you spend the money on?

~Hmm….I would honestly probably spend it on clothes, jewelry, and hair products. I’m cheap, so I’d probably have a couple hundred left to spare, which I’d try to put in the bank. That’s just how my mind works ha.

8. My daughter is part of the marching band in high school and has been
playing the clarinet for 6 years. What instrument do you play?

~That’s awesome! I hope she is enjoying it! I am a trumpet player, but I don’t think I fit the stereotype…..I hope not haha.

9. What is your favorite course in college?

~So far, it’s between Western Civilization, Survey of African American History, and Astronomy. However, I will be taking a Creative Writing course in the Spring that I think I will really enjoy too.

10. What is the best perk that you have received since you started blogging?

~I’d have to say the best perk is the friends I have made. Although blogging is all virtual, the people you meet and the relationships you develop work just like any normal interaction in person and can be just as special. All the bloggers I have met have been so sweet and helpful and I’ve had the privilege of making friends even in other countries! It’s been great!
