Weekly Blessings: Week 8
Hey guys, and welcome to week 8 of “Weekly Blessings.” This week our topic is lust.
I had a tough time figuring out what to talk to you guys about this week when God allowed me to run across a video on JamTheHype. The video is called, “Lust in Translation,” and was done by spoken word artist Tanner Olson. He really hit the nail on the head and discussed the struggle with lust and how it can be overcame simply by embracing God and allowing Him to work on you and fight the battle.
Lust is a serious thing, guys. It is a huge stronghold that can easily become the gateway to tons of other things that you never expected to be exposed to. This particular posts refers to sexual lust, but don’t forget that lust is very open-ended; you can have a lust for money, fame, attention, ect.. it can get the best of us. Don’t allow it to control your life. If you are currently battling this demon, think of what Tanner did: take it to God. Pray to God and tell him everything you feel, offer up your baggage to Him. Let Him lift the burden and walk you into victory.
15Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
~1 John 2:15-17
And in closing, I’d like to leave you with this song by Mr. Del that fits right in with what Tanner was speaking about:
Mr. Del- Lurkin’ In Me
I think this is what adds to peoples low self esteem. When they are lusting after something they don't have instead of being grateful for what they DO have. great post!
Not a post I usually come across, but an interesting topic. I'm glad I don't battle any lust issues in my life. It is good that you point out that lusting doesn't solely focus on physical/sexual desires. I think today's youth need to have a conversation regarding this topic before they encounter the opinions and actions of others that can negatively mold their viewpoints.
There is something especially great about persons that blog and share the word! excited to connect with you!

Good point. Thanks for commenting!
Appreciate your comment! And you're right; the younger generation really needs to sit down an have a serious talk about his type of thing because this is the biggest issue we have to face.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm excited to connect with you also!
