Happy Loyalty Day/National Day of Prayer!!

Today is May 1st, which means it is the National Day of Prayer and Loyalty Day! In celebration,I am going to give you the rundown on these two holidays that inhabit the first day of May.

The National Day of Prayer has been going on since the founding of our nation, but was officially made a holiday by President Truman in 1952. According to the holiday’s official website, the purpose of the holiday is to,”communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families.”

Loyalty Day is basically an official holiday for Americans to “renew their vows” to our country. Loyalty Day was started in 192, then called “Americanization Day.” The original purpose of the holiday was to respond to the Russian’s celebrating their revolution. The holiday had its first official observance in 1959 by President Eisenhower. Every year since the holiday was made official, it is observed with an official proclamation by the current President.

Well,I hope you guys learned something new today! Now that you’re aware of two official holidays on this date, how do you plan to celebrate?
